Neewollah 2006 Committee Kick-Off Party: In Kansas, school children are back in school by late August, and communities as a whole settle into new routines. In Independence, late August heralds the beginning of a new set of routines, those having to do with the annual Neewollah celebration in late October.
The evening of the 22nd was the kick-off party, signalling the preparation for Neewollah 2006. Committees assembled for photographs to be used in the program book, to greet friends, and to have, in some cases, the organizational meetings to get things underway. The Neewollah board has been meeting all year, the cast is selected for the musical, the Queens committees are planning for the coronation. Tickets will be printed and that committee is setting up schedules for opening day and continuing ticket and merchandise sales.
Neewollah is waking up in Independence, and will be ready for our community and visitors right on schedule, the last full week in October.
