October 1st, 2007
Dear General Drew,
We are new to Independence. I have visited your website. I have heard that the Marine Corps Band is going to have a concert, but I cannot find the date and time. Also, I assume the Clydesdale Horses are going to be in the Grand Parade. Could you please give me the date and time of the concert? Will tickets be sold for this?
Thanks!
Sam Forrer
Dear Sam,
You are absolutely correct on both. The Marine Corps Band and the Clydesdale Horses are both coming. These are two staples of our celebration. The Marine Corps Band will be in concert on Friday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall Auditorium and they will also be in the Grand Parade on Saturday, October 27th and performing on Sunday, October 28th at 1:15pm before the ICC Pirate’s Football game.
The local Marine Corps League sponsor’s this appearance. This group raises money through donations to house, feed, etc., the band members. By law, no admission can be charged to listen to this great group. The League solicits donations and then provides the donors with tickets. Some organizations and business donate a considerable amount and individuals donate less. I would recommend you watch the paper and website to see when they have reached their donation goal at which time the remaining tickets will be given away free, in order to make sure you have tickets. All tickets are reserved.
And yes, again the Budweiser Clydesdales are returning. These magnificent animals will be appearing in the Grand Parade. Again, watch the local newspaper or our website for possible additional appearances.
I hope you enjoy the celebration and particularly these two aspects.
Sincerely,
Drew Demo
