Bike Ride

The annual Neewollah bike ride comes in three distinct types; 18 miles, 35 miles, and 70 miles. The riders leave just after the chefs at Riverside begin their chili cookoff. The riders then head out near Elk City Reservoir, and branch into various routes. Food and water is served at ten mile intervals along the route. The riders gather at the Riverside 4-H building.

  • Eat before you are hungry.  Eat small amounts of carbohydrates every hour.  Foods high in potassium will help prevent cramping.

  • Bicycle Helmets ARE REQUIRED!!
  • Be sure your bicycle is in good working order.   Arrive early the day of the ride to check your bike and tires.  Make sure tires are inflated properly.  It is a good idea to carry a tire pump, extra tube and a patch kit.

  • When you are passing other riders, announce your presence by saying "on your left".
  • When stopping, indicate with a hand signal and pull as far over to the right as possible.
  • Slow down on rough roads.
  • Railroad Tracks. Slow down and cross tracks at a right angle to prevent possible injury to you, or damage to your bike.
