Dear Sean:
We are the parents of an eighth grader and have only lived here for a few
months. I would like to know more about the Neewollah Queen competition.
Generally speaking what is the purpose of the contest? Why is there one? We do know that if our daughter is interested, the time to start thinking about it is now.
Sincerely,
Interested Parent
--------------------- Response
Dear Intrested Parent:
The Queen Neelah contest is to select a representative of the celebration for that year and throughout the next year. The process helps any young girl who enters to mature and to have experiences that might not otherwise be available to her. Neewollah volunteers conduct workshops to help the candidates prepare for the contest, which involves interviews and a talent show as well as informal and formal gatherings of the contestants throughout the fall season.
The purpose and philosophy of the program is to provide a worthwhile, fun, positive learning experience for the girls involved. I hope this helps and I hope your daughter will consider entering in a few years.
