Or maybe we should call it "Busting at the Food Stands". We all have our favorite place to eat at Neewollah. It might be a corn dog or some apple fritters or maybe a funnel cake. I've heard stories of kids (anywhere from 5 years old to 70 years old) planning their route. Others of us start at the top on the west side and don't stop until we have made it back up the hill on the east side. For me, I always grab a corn-on-the-cob as I head home from an evening of fun but I never make it past the trash can sitting in front of the Chamber office. I know because my cob gets thrown into it every time. I'm always tempted to head back for another and then I remember, there is another night.
Enough of me... It's your turn. Tell us your Food Stand Story.

My husband and I met during Neewollah week in 1977 and were married during the same week in 1980. Our "reception" consisted of the two of us going downtown to the food stands! My favorite at that time was Jaffles and his was the barbecue stand that used to be in front of First National Bank. Now it is Gyros and turkey legs. Does anyone remember Reverand Russaw's pig ear sandwiches?

I'm pretty serious about diet and exercise -- fruits, veggies always. Vitamins. Go light on meat. Ease up on desserts. But the year I discovered the gooey hot chocolatey ecstasy of DEEP-FRIED OREOS at the food stand on the north end of Penn, my good habits were gone and forgotten...until Sunday when Neewollah was over, the stands were gone and I had to return to real life (which was probably a good thing).
