Riverside Park Oval: Concession House
Decorating will take place at the park: 10-12 noon
Awards announced at 12:45 pm in Oval
The Great Pumpkin Contest is one of many fun, family-oriented Neewollah traditions.
This year the contest will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22nd, at the Riverside Park Oval during the Chili Cook-Off.
Any child, preschool through 5th grade may submit an entry. Again this year, in addition to the individual entries, there will be categories for Middle School homeroom and High School advisory entries.
Individual entries will actually be decorated the day of the contest. Parents may bring their child and his/her own pumpkin to decorate together to the Riverside Park Oval between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Look for us in the Concession House on the east side of the Oval. IHS Art Works students will be on hand, along with lots of paint, glitter, glue and other crafty things to provide assistance.
Judging will take place at 12:00 p.m. with awards at 12:45 p.m. in the Oval. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places will be awarded in the preschool and elementary age groups and the first 125 preschool through 5th grade entrants will receive a goodie bag. The winners of Middle School and High School groups will each receive a traveling trophy and a cookie party for their homeroom or Advisory.
Additionally, winning pumpkins will be displayed at Neewollah Headquarters. Judging of the pumpkins is based on creativity and imagination, so each child is encouraged to create a unique and novel jack-o-lantern. |
