Queen Neelah, Your StoriesAuthor: Posted Date: 10/8/2007 5:11:46 PM
The Queen Neelah Coronation has been part of Neewollah since the beginning. Many competed, few were crowned but all who competed are winners. If you competed for Queen Neelah and have a story to tell, this is your chance.

I was a Neela Deb in 1962 and a queen candidate in 1964. It was a great experience, although I was really nervous. I did not expect to win any awards, I was just in it for the fun of it! My daughter was also a Deb when she was a high school sophmore and queen candidate when she was a senior. She enjoyed the experience also. I hope my granddaughters will some day want to participate in both activities. It is a great experience if young ladies to go into it to have fun. If they should win an award or Queen that will make it an even more memorable expierence!

It amazes me how the talent competition has grown since I was in the pagent in 1973! My talent was sewing. I had made all of my clothes needed for the pagent. I just got up on stage and showed them! Our queen, Laurie DiIorio, read a poem!

I remember when my cousin, Neola Hamsher Strathe was crowned Queen Neelah, in 1958. I was only eleven yaers old.
I got to dance with the govenor, and I felt like a Queen that night. That is a memory i will never forget.

I was in the Queen Neelah, when I was a senior in high school. I got Miss Fashion. That was the year that my friend Julie Lair who was queen. I was so surprise, when I heard them say my name I was so shocked! thats when I was named Miss Fashion. I was so happy. I as so shocked that when I got home my two sisters, were holding knives in front of me teasing. Because they went out for queen neelah during their senior year, and they didn't get a trophy like I receive one.Of course they were all three happy for me as well as my mom. It was such a great experience. And I had a blast doing it.
