2023 Neewollah Generalissimo, Sabrina Overfield, is pleased to announce the 2023 logo. The logo was designed by Mark and Cameron Johnson, who recently created the 2021 logo as well. There wasn’t any question in Overfield’s mind who she would ask to create the logo for her generalissimo year. The ties to the Johnson family run deep as Mark and Overfield’s husband, Gary, have been childhood best friends, and Overfield worked for Johnson when he had his art shop on Penn Avenue. Overfield commented, “I always knew that if I had the opportunity to serve as generalissimo, Mark would create my logo for me. I have enjoyed his artwork for many years and he has created quite a few pictures for us that we treasure.”
Mark’s history with Neewollah also runs deep. He is the creator of the Neewollah witch and when Overfield and Johnson sat down to collaborate about this year’s design, it was no surprise to Overfield that Johnson has been involved and created over half the previous Neewollah logos. It is an added bonus, that Cameron has inherited the art ability and worked with Mark to create this year’s logo, that was exactly what Overfield had in mind. Cameron is dabbling in his own artwork, and you can see his current creations, by attending the Verdigris Valley Art Exhibit that will be held at the Independence Historical Museum and Art Center June 23rd through July 6th, 2023.
Neewollah 2023, Beautiful Moment, Timeless Memory runs October 21st
